Professional history / Resume
|
My work has always been focused on networks or any type of communication between computer devices.
Right from the start of my academic journey at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBa), my interest in working with networks was visible, unlike most of my peers who preferred development and programming. (+/-)
I started my first network administration in the second semester of the Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. This extra activity initiated me into the management of Novell and Linux servers with basic network services, data storage, intranet, internet, and what I consider most important: managing few resources and making the most of them.
With the know-how acquired at UFBa and following an invitation from a friend, Frederico Ferraz, we formed a small partnership and founded one of the first access and content providers on the internet in Bahia, the sixth IRC chat server in Brazil, and one of the first Brazilian providers to adopt the concept of unlimited minutes franchising, the Interligue Internet Provider. (+/-)
Like most providers founded during the boom of the internet in Brazil, Interligue grew and was reformulated over time.
Firstly, it merged with a computer training company, changing its name to CPUnet and, a few years after I left its management, it was acquired by the provider of Jornal A Tarde.
Having my own business was very important, in addition to forming a network outside of the academic environment, allowing me to be known in the regional market.
This made a big difference when I decided to leave the provider and change my professional path because I could choose among some companies, including Consulte Conectividade, a very promising IT consulting company with several big clients. After about a year with Consulte, one of my clients introduced me to the IT Director of the Norberto Odebrecht Construction Company in Angola.
Frederico Ferraz also followed other paths and now has a promising law firm.
From 1998 to 2001, I worked in Angola for Odebrecht as the national internet sector manager and the IT sector of the Luanda Sul project.
(+/-)
I was responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of the Intranet and Internet backbone of the company throughout the country.
In addition to network and security, I acted as the primary contact in updating and migrating Oracle database servers, especially in the process of adapting to the Y2K bug at the turn of the millennium.
By the first quarter of 2001, the backbone had several national and international radio and satellite links, as well as a growing number of performance control services and systems.
In April 2001, I returned to Brazil and joined the Information Infrastructure team at Odebrecht headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on the national IP network and security systems that were already in place, ensuring their operation and preparation for upcoming changes.
(+/-)
Among these changes, I can highlight the use of an IP network model using 100% VPNs - where each link converges to the telecommunications operator or even the Internet and from there it goes through the network to a central point in a secure manner - and the implementation of productivity, messaging, and internet systems in a DataCenter environment.
In addition to corporate VPNs, a complete review was carried out on the central data center switching, firewalls, strengthening of internal and external DNS management, server hardening, and network planning for the data center.
In late 2002, following the move of the Odebrecht headquarters, the entire IT team relocated to Sao Paulo.
(+/-)
This was a large and complex move that would typically cause interruption in the company's overall work, but
due to the way that the corporate network had already been functioning for over a year, all of the projects
and offices - national and international - continued their work without any interruption.
In response to the initial demand for video conferencing, we planned and implemented MPLS connections
in the major national offices and, in a second stage, in international offices.
The national network continued with Telemar, and for the international network, we chose Globalcrossing,
one of the largest providers of fiber optic, terrestrial, or marine connectivity in the world,
with the largest carriers and operators in the world on its client list.
In both cases, the implementation of Voice over IP was carried out, initiating the use of voice on the
network in a more organized and corporate manner.
Starting in 2005, we expanded the management of the Brazilian network and international connections, and
in 2006, we began the implementation of the corporate IP Telephony service with Cisco products, meeting
the need for privacy and confidentiality in more sensitive conversations through the use of voice
encryption available in the products.
This project featured IP phones individually installed on construction sites and offices in Brazil and
abroad, associated with Cisco Unified Call Manager servers in Brazil. Over time, national and
international offices were migrated to local IP Telephony infrastructures, unifying systems in Angola,
Brazil, and the United States to form a large global IP Telephony network.
Throughout 2007, I prioritized my work in international support, and after 10 years, I started to phase out from Odebrecht. (+/-)
- Supported the acquisition of the IP Telephony solution in the Buenos Aires office;
- Supported the firewall infrastructure for the Nosso Super project, and later the IP Telephony for the Siac project, both in Angola;
- In the last quarter, I spent two long periods in Venezuela dealing with various IT issues such as virtualization, planning for the review of the central office's LAN and wireless network, router optimization, QoS of the WAN, and migration to IP Telephony.
In 2008, I joined a company that deals purely with Information Security, Future Security. (+/-)
I worked in the areas of Project Management and Solution Architecture, assisting in pre-sales, planning, and implementation of security solutions for clients in various markets.
Business demands from clients were intermediated through surveys, analysis, and planning of changes in a security environment, as well as auditing security events and CMDB with new tools such as ArcSight and Tufin Secure Suite.
In June 2010, I left Future Security and worked as a consultant for Foco Gestão de TI, performing Project Management and Network and Security Architecture for clients in various markets in São Paulo.
In 2010, I also joined Stefanini IT Solutions as a Tech Leader in the Information Security area for the Telefonica Empresas Datacenter in Barueri, near São Paulo. (+/-)
I started as a Senior Analyst in the incidents management team and developed new support solutions for security operations.
Following a restructure, I became the technical responsible for the Security Infrastructure, with the mission of drawing up improvement plans for clients' environments, managing crises in the area, planning changes, and being the responsible analyst for escalation of other analysts in case of problems.
I carried out the reformulation of the solutions inventory base and reviewed the L3 internal security policy for access to clients' assets, reinforcing the security and privacy of the environment. In addition to this process and organizational side, I promoted the virtualization of all support systems for Security and Networks staff, who previously used stand-alone HW and SW, as well as the replacement of the support firewall for a new Juniper cluster.
I supervised the beginning of the Intragov SP Internet access technology upgrade project, migrating from Altheon balanceers and Juniper Firewalls to a park of F5 balanceers and Fortigate Firewalls.
At the end of 2011, I accepted the proposal from Proof Digital Investigation and became a Senior Engineer consultant for new Network and Security technologies in major clients in São Paulo.
(+/-)
I took advantage of my recent experience with traffic accelerators and balancers, both at Future and at Datacenter Telefonica, and deepened this knowledge in F5 Networks products.
The year 2012 started off very busy and full of projects, besides being a dynamic company where I already knew several people, partners, and colleagues who came from Future Security.
I acted as the main resource for the São Paulo branch and also supported other states as a senior pre-sales and project engineer in large companies focused on:
- F5 (Load Balancing, DDoS, Network and Application Security, Acceleration, Routing with BGP, and Virtualization with Viprion and vCMP chassis)
- Tufin (Auditing, Risk, Compliance, and Firewall and Traffic Policing Device Management Automation)
- Cisco and Meraki (Routing, Switching, Wireless, and IP Telephony)
- Splunk (Big Data Analytics and SIEM)
- Arbor (Leader in the market for DDoS prevention and mitigation and network threats)
In July 2015, an opportunity arose, and I started representing the manufacturer Tufin Software Technologies from Israel.
(+/-)
I joined a new team formed in Brazil and Chile as the first local representatives of Tufin, based in Israel, dedicated to Latin America.
As the first Brazilian SE, I introduced the Portuguese language into the company along with Rafael Sampaio, LATAM Director, Diego Calderon, SE for spanish speaking area, and Odair Teixeira, Sales Executive for Brazil.
Acting as a Sales Engineer between distributors, resellers, and large clients, responsible for supporting Tufin's expansion by supporting partners, evangelizing the need and use of our products, initiating the first local TCSE training series, seminars, and participating in marketing activities.
Responsible for technically evaluating the provider for a new global Cloud Lab infrastructure to offer a better on-demand solution to Training, SEs, BDR, Development, and Support areas.
CloudShare, which would soon be acquired by Oracle, was the chosen company. We created several templates and were able to offer ready-made VMs from all manufacturers supported by Tufin and support Pre-sales, Professional Services, Development, Partners, and Customers teams to perform online laboratories, as well as support the Tufin Academy platform for training and certification support.
Working from Brazil in all countries of Latin America and supporting Proof of Value (PoVs) in projects in the United States,
In the midst of Tufin's fade-out from LATAM in 2022, I returned to the consulting market, working again on side projects with Foco Gestão em TI, conducting IT Master and Executive Plans for large companies, guiding their actions for the next 3 to 5 years.
In addition to the work with Foco Gestão TI, I supported active DPOs with assessment and validation of LGPD actions while on a formal and official training track at TI Exames, led by Davis Alves, president of ANPPD and a member of the National Data Protection Agency, ANPD.
Shortly after obtaining the Exin Data Protection Office certification, I started a new branch in The UnF Networks dedicated to Data Privacy services named Go!Private .
In June of 2023, I joined as a TAM (Technical Account Manager) in the security and segmentation area of Guardicore, a company of the globally known Akamai Technologies, and became part of an excellent team of professionals for the LATAM market.
Ongoing Certifications: CISO, CIPM, ISO 27001/27002, (ISC)2 CISSP, and PMI PMP
